Quality of education has been the pinpoint of discussion for intellectuals thinkers and educationists since the creation of Pakistan. The importance of education in the present century in which knowledge has replaced with information has controlled weapons.

Departments

Department of Islamic Studies

This is one of the founding departments in the College. Currently this department offers the program of BS in Islamic Studies and M.A. Islamic Studies. It also deals with the subject of Islamic Studies at various other levels .It is headed by Ass. Prof. Mr. Ghulam Ahmad.

Objectives

The following is a bird’s eye views of those objectives which the Islamic Deportment is striving to achieve:
  1. To produce competent scholars who are well versed in basic Islamic disciplines and capable of guiding the Muslim Ummah in molding its life in accordance with the teachings of Islam.
  2. To produce scholars who have a clear perception of the contemporary Muslim society and of the dangers threatening its very existence and future survival. They are also expected to be capable of drawing up plans to deal effectively with the designs of the enemies of Muslim Ummah to annihilate Islam as an ideology and to obstruct the efforts of the Muslims to restructure their social life according to Islamic principles and values.
  3. To enlighten the students on the modern methods and techniques of Da’wah and train them in the application of audio-visual equipment for effective education of the Muslim masses about the fundamental moral and spiritual teachings of Islam.
  4. To familiarize the Muslim youth with contemporary ideologies and philosophies threatening the very existence of Islamic communities and train them in the methods to combat their influence in the Muslim world.
  5. To educate the students about the modern sociological and psychological theories that would enable them to understand the psychology of the masses and the socioeconomic environments surrounding them.

Department of Shariah

The Department of Shariah is a unique center of learning in College which provides good quality of education of Shariah, consisting the multidynamic subjects like Al-Quran, Al-Hadith, Seerat, Tasawwuf, Fiqh, Surf, Nahv and Tajweed. The Department provides good academic environment in which students can pursue their studies of Shariah under the supervision of well qualified, dynamic and research oriented scholars. The Department awards students the intermediate degree in Shariah i.e. Shahada-tu-Saniyah. The Department is headed by Assoc. Prof. Mr. Muhammad Afzal Kanjoo.

Objectives

  1. An interpretation of Islam in the light of the Quran and Sunnah providing practically crystallized solutions to all the problem areas of life.
  2. A training format for the young generations furnishing them with a comparative study and research for the Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, and other tracks of Shariah and enabling them to present solution to the problems and fulfill the needs of the day as a result of their comparative study of the religions.
  3. Training the students morally and spiritually so that they build their character and strengthen their inner self and uplift themselves to abstinence and purification.
  4. Being an academic center that is able to promote the level of Islamic culture and Shariah sciences inside and outside the country, besides being a center for leading and specialized researches.
  5. To create spiritual insight and love for Allah and His beloved Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W.).

Department of English

The English Department at Minhaj College for Women is a dynamic learning community dedicated to exploring the beauty and power of language and literature. The Department deals with the English subject at Intermediate level and it also offers a university course that prepares students to obtain the Bachelor Degree in English. Such degree qualifies students to:
  • Teach English at high and intermediate schools or any similar levels at English teaching centers, after having the appropriate educational training.
  • Pursue their studies in advanced courses such as M.A. in linguistics, literature or other closely relevant fields.
  • Integrate in a number of jobs requiring command of English language.
  • Besides this the Department also conducts various short courses to enhance the spoken, written, listening and reading English in a better way. The Department is headed by Ass. Prof. Ms. Rubina Rashid.

Objectives

  • Developing the students' linguistic skills as to listening, speaking, reading and writing in order for graduates to be able to use such skills in various situations easily and smoothly.
  • Enhancing the spirit of creativity and intellection of students.
  • Creating an enhanced appreciation and enjoyment of literature and language.
  • Helping the students in exploring language and literature in English in such a way as to increase their capacity to think logically, critically, and creatively.
  • Developing intellectual flexibility, creativity, and cultural literacy, important assets in a constantly changing global climate.
